Collaborative guidebook and one cyclist’s mission to create the perfect bike

New products: It’s All About the Bike and the Good MTB Guide

The paperback version of ‘It’s All About the Bike’ has just been released to retail.

The book, subtitled ‘The Pursuit of Happiness on Two Wheels’, features the story of a journey to design and build the dream bike.

Author Robert Penn travels the globe in his quest, from Stoke on Trent where his frame is hand-built, to California to track down the perfect wheels, via Portland, Milan and Coventry, birthplace of the modern bicycle. While creating his perfect bike Penn discusses the culture, science and history of the bicycle, from its role in the emancipation of women to the appeal of the Tour de France.

The 208-paged paperback is priced at £8.99.

Another recent bicycle book, released at the start of April, comes from new publisher Pioneer Publishing. The Good Mountain Biking Guide covers England and Wales and is pitched as a new, definitive concept in cycle guidebooks.

The heavily illustrated title includes detailed maps with route ideas, where to park, nearby bike shops and more. The 500-page book was put together with a huge amount of support from the mountain bike community – authors, photographers, clubs businesses and enthusiasts all had a say in putting the title together.

The book covers 100 Trail Centres, 400 Natural Areas and over 700 route ideas.

The Good Mountain Biking Guide is available to bike shops via distributor Cordee and retails at £19.99.
