E.ON UK, "the company that runs Powergen", has signed up as an Official Sponsor of the Tour of Britain.

New sponsor for Tour of Britain

The Tour of Britain runs from 29th August to 3rd September.

The final day of racing will be televised live by the BBC. A one-hour highlights programme about the previous stages precedes a 90-minute live spectacle as the riders start their 20-laps around the major tourist sites of London.

The BBC coverage will also be broadcast on giant screens on the Mall. The live broadcast will include Tour de France-style helicopter shots.

Other corporate sponsors of the Tour include T-Mobile, Canon, Transport for London, regional development agencies and Shimano-supplier Madison.

E.ON is a headline sponsor and will also sponsor the ‘King of the Mountains’ competition.

Mike Thompson, head of sponsorship at E.ON UK, said:

“The Tour of Britain is a highly prestigious elite event involving athletes who are performing at the top of their sport. This partnership therefore represents an ideal fit for E.ON as we similarly look to demonstrate performance and expertise in all that we do. The race also offers E.ON a platform to communicate in local communities and allows us to deliver a powerful message of corporate and social responsibility throughout some of our key regions.”
