Mobike launches in Rotterdam

Mobike has launched its bike sharing service in Rotterdam.

Mobike began operations in Rotterdam October 25th, with a pilot of 150 bikes. With the successful completion and learnings from this pilot phase, this number will gradually increase during the official rollout, in consultation with the local government.

A launch event to welcome Mobike in the Netherlands takes place today. From 17:00 onward, the public is invited to try the Mobikes and to meet with representatives of the brand, local officials, and partners. As a special guest, Ms Chantal Blaak, the world champion road cycling from Rotterdam, will be present to demonstrate the Mobikes.

Ms. Weiwei Hu, founder of Mobike, said: “We’re very excited to make Rotterdam Mobike’s first partner in the Netherlands. They were carefully selected as a promising and highly-suited Mobike city for their entrepreneurial and practical mentality, and dedication to improving urban life through sustainable transportation. We have been working with multiple local stakeholders, including the municipality of Rotterdam, to ensure the people of Rotterdam can benefit from our high-tech offering.”

Mr Ronald Haverman of Mobike the Netherlands added: “We will gradually expand our services in Rotterdam, in a coordinated way, cooperating with all relevant stakeholders involved. Together with Rotterdam companies, we will ensure that the bicycles are kept in top condition and managed with maximum efficiency.”
