oBike has hit a major milestone of 10 million trips globally.

oBike has hit a major milestone of 10 million trips globally.

To cope with the demand, oBike launched a franchise-like programme known as the Global Business Partnership Programme last month, inviting interested parties to manage its on-ground operations and maintenance works as business partners.

Based on a revenue-share model, GBPP was established with the objective of harnessing the networks and resources of local businesses to better optimise oBike operations through timely deployment as well as redeployment and maintenance of the bikes.

Interested parties can join oBike on one of the two GBPP tiers. These include being a city partner or a regional business partner.

oBike is currently operating in over 60 cities across 20 countries. Through GBPP, oBike has commented that it hopes to create a more sustainable and scalable business model, whilst boosting business and employment opportunities in the respective countries and communities it operates in: “We are ecstatic that in a matter of months, oBike has hit a major milestone of 10 million trips across the world. This would not have been possible without the support of our users who have been faithfully following us on this journey,” said oBike co-founder Edward Chen.

“oBike was founded with the mission of harnessing technology to create a greener way of commuting in urban cities, and GBPP is our way of giving back to the communities we operate in. This comes back full circle, creating a holistic and sustainable ecosystem. Ultimately, it is our hope to create a win-win-win situation for us, our users and our planet,” Mr Chen added.
