Cost of detection equipment and inventory loss contribute to huge total

Retail crime costs soar to £4billion

The Centre for Retail Research has revealed that crime now costs the retail industry £4billion.

Last year, shoplifting and organised retail crime accounted for 31 per cent of inventory shrinkage. There’s more on the story at BikeBiz’s sister site Toy News.

There’s been a spate of crime stories on BikeBiz lately, with six bikes stolen from Hertfordshire’s Mountain Mania Cycles four days ago.

And last month the ‘test ride thief’ struck at Dartmoor Cycles and JE James, among others.
