Shimano reports sales drop of almost three per cent

The latest sales report from bicycle componentry specialists Shimano shows an overall three per cent decrease in sales for the first half of the year.

A range of reasons were highlighted in the report, including an uncertain political climate in the west, unsettled weather leading up to spring and bicycle share schemes.

According to the report, operating income for the cycling division fell by 11.5 per cent whilst net sales for the business as a whole fell by two per cent to 163,079 million yen. Interestingly, Shimano reported growth in its fishing division, with sales seeing a rise of 0.6 per cent to 33,799 million yen.
