Ten-day extravaganza starts Saturday in the Scottish borders

Tweedlove Bike Festival rolls into action tomorrow

The Tweedlove Festival, featuring 33 individual cycling events over the course of ten days, begins tomorrow.

From Saturday May 26th to June 5th around 88,000 kilometres of trail and road will be cycled, with event entrants ranging from two years old to 73. 26,000 people have viewed preview videos ahead of the Festival.

The Kids Mini Downhill at Innerleithen launches the festival, which will cover a wide variety of cycle events set in the bike-friendly community that is the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders.

In three years the festival has grown from a few local events to become a major fixture attracting hardened racers and recreational riders from throughout the UK and Europe. The festival is still largely organised by volunteers and members of a an enthusiastic local cycling population, and many events are free.

Festival director Neil Dalgleish said: "We all want to share our love of bikes and the great trails and routes we have here in the Tweed Valley."
