Two events will use routes devised by pros

Oli Beckingsale-backed MTB experience provider opens for business

MTBepics is launching two UK mountain biking experiences over three-day summer events, designed by UK Olympians.

Pitched as the first of their kind and endorsed British Olympic riders Oli Beckingsale and Liam Killeen, the events promise a new way for outdoor endurance enthusiasts to challenge themselves over ‘Down to Plains (August 15th to 17th) and ‘Fort to Fort’ (September 26th to 28th).

Both routes, over 150m in length, have been devised by the pros for their daily climbs (around 1,500m) and amount of off-road riding (over 75 per cent). The events focus on personal achievement rather than racing.

“Being an outdoor endurance enthusiast myself I have been involved in a wide range of outdoor events," said Adrian Thornycroft, MTBepics founder. "I have run the New York marathon and Comrades ultra-marathon twice, and quickly realised that there wasn’t anything that catered for mountain bikers that offered a hassle free experience combined with an adrenaline filled opportunity to explore the beautiful English countryside.”

Beckingsale added: “The UK has been crying out for events like this for a long time, so it is great to be involved with them. Mountain biking is growing rapidly in popularity something these events demonstrate by enabling participants to focus on the rides. It is all about the challenge, the endurance, the experience and the exhilaration. These events have it all and so much more,” said Oli Beckingsale, three-time UK Olympic rider and ex-British marathon champion.
