Distributor and manufacturer Oxford Products saw business grow by 15 per cent in 2008.
Oxford told BikeBiz that the results mark another record year for the business, with its cycle-related product a significant driver of sales.
Oxford Product’s cycle business grew significantly, by an impressive 40 per cent on 2008. The company’s new lighting range and cycle helmets made up the biggest growth areas for the business.
The firm told BikeBiz: “With what is in the pipeline we expect 2010 to bring a similar rate of growth to 2009, but there is the potential for much, much more. As well as improving the ranges we’re well known for – locks, helmets and lighting – we will be widening the range to encompass more essential rider equipment.”
Oxford has invested in a 30 per cent larger stockholding to maintain top-notch pick rates and expected further growth.
Oxford’s UK Sales Director David Kinnaird said: "Feedback from dealers is crystal clear: they do not want back orders and they do not want to miss a single sale.”
“We’re proud of a pick-rate which rarely dips below 97 per cent and our sales this year are dramatically higher than in 2008. So I am delighted that we have re-invested our profits into increasing our stockholding in all areas – our warehouse is literally bulging!"
Extra stock has led the firm to invest in high level racking in Oxford’s purpose-built 40,000 sq ft distribution facility. Kinnard explained: "We have plenty of space on our site to expand into as soon as is necessary, but in the meantime we’re focused on delivering a tremendous service for our dealers and supporting our ever-growing range."
Kinnard himself has now been with Oxford for 15 years, seeing a 30 per cent rise in sales for his accounts in that time: "It couldn’t be simpler, you need the right product, with the right service, delivered right on time – and that means having it in stock!"
