Paddington station to receive ‘Cyclepoint’ treatment?

London’s Paddington station could be one of the many planned ‘Cyclepoint locations set to crop up across the UK in the next few years.

Cyclepoint, a concept developed by Dutch rail operator NedRailways, combines cycle hire, repair and secure parking at railway stations.

The London Evening Standard reports that for a cost of 75p per day, users will be granted access with a swipe card to secure parking facilities, which will "be manned late into the evening."

If the £750,000 build goes ahead, the Capital’s station would hold the UK’s biggest bike parking facility.

The website even reports a possible link up whereby the cost of parking could be deducted from an Oyster card.

A TfL spokesman told the publication: “We are investing £3.5 million this year in new cycle parking facilities in the capital and will be installing facilities at 60 Tube stations during the next few years. We are always looking for innovative ways of providing more cycle parking."
