A district nurse is due to meet health bosses today to see if they will allow her to keep covering her area by bicycle. The Bournemouth Teaching Primary Care Trust's director of clinical services told Nursing Times: ""The area is high risk from drug users. We are concerned that she is wandering around on a bicycle with needles and syringes in a bum bag. I have to look at the needs of the patients and staff security."

This month sees completion of the first 10 000 miles of the National Cycle Network, a task that has taken ten years for Sustrans to achieve. To highlight those instrumental in creating and maintaining the Network, the sustainable transport charity is presenting key partners and individuals with thank-you awards.

Tescos' Computers for Schools voucher collection scheme will be rested until November. Taking its place will be Tesco Sport for Schools & Clubs, a voucher scheme that will "inspire the UK’s children to get fitter and healthier." The multi-million pound scheme goes live across all Tesco stores on 12th September. Perhaps mad-keen cyclists could donate their vouchers to cycling clubs that operate Go Ride programmes for children?
