The Journal of Sexual Medicine's September issue carried three papers and an editorial on the dangers of cycling on 'traditional' bicycle saddles. BikeBiz.com has now obtained a copy of the journal. Bicyclists, apparantly, are "human" and therefore resistant to change.

Team Barloworld is sponsored by a fork-lift truck supplier and it's this business which tomorrow presents Sustrans with £10 000. The cash will help support Sustrans' Rangers, a 1600-strong band of volunteers looking after their 'own' stretches of the National Cycle Network. Barloworld is also to encourage its employees to take part in Sustrans workdays and to do more cycling.

At 10.30am the 500-mile race will start from Glasgows George Square and finish six days later on Sunday 4th September, in Londons Whitehall. Glasgow was given a wee taste of the tour last night when a George Square Criterium - the Glasgow Grand Prix - got the best of the day's sunshine. Bikie VIPs were out in force. Two were wrapped up warm in Gore-Tex jackets and overtrousers: last year's podium girls have been re-hired for the all-important post-race smoochy-smoochy.
