There have so far been 295 entries in the Taiwan-organised International Bicycle Design Competition, from bike designers representing 45 countries. China is leading the pack, and Taiwan, with 45 entries, is running a close second. The UK, with 12 entries submitted so far, is outpacing the Netherlands, which has a measley five entries.

London Cycling Campaign is inviting nominations for its annual awards for projects that have done the most to benefit cycling in London. Betcha the Trek-sponsored Rough Guide to London gets a gong, but how about some entries from London bike shops?

Shimano Inc. expects to report a $101m group pretax profit for the six months ended June 30th 2003.

John Doerr has joined Cannondale as its new chief operating officer. A bike industry veteran, Doerr was most recently at Bell Sports where he was vice president of supply chain management.

The £1m will go towards a new, £600k National Cycle Network centre in Bristol and £463k will be spent on route signing for the National Cycle Network.
