Long term deal will see distributor bring 120 strong bike range to dealers

Paligap snaps up Avanti Bikes

Following its deal to handle Avanti’s ABD BMX brand earlier this month, Paligap has now taken on UK distribution duties for Avanti Bikes.

The long term deal will see Paligap bring Australasia’s big selling brand to Britain, now sporting a range of 120 different models suiting all styles of riders and terrain.

All of Avanti’s bikes are designed in New Zealand and the range covers world-class time trial and track bikes, to Avanti’s lauded road and mountain bike ranges and a plethora of path and trail style and kids’ bikes.

Avanti group product manager Kim Struthers is keen to bring the Kiwi brand to the UK market: “While all of cycling’s major brands operate heavily in this market there is a relative sameness to their approach and we believe a new brand with a new story from down under holds much appeal.”

Paligap MD David Lane added: “It’s something different, something fresh and a fantastic range of bikes that are competitive with absolutely anything in the world.

“They offer everything a dealer could ever want in range, price points and quality and we are very proud to be their distribution partner in this part of the world. For me they really are the worlds best kept secret but with 25 years of experience behind them.”

Paligap will be bringing the Avanti brand to the forthcoming London Bike Show and Core Bike Show, as well as Paligap’s own in-house and dealer road shows.

Avanti is owned and operated by Sheppard Industries, which has been in the bicycle trade for over three decades under the private ownership of John Struthers. The business operates as a wholesaler, distributor and retailer in New Zealand and Australia.

Avanti’s sponsored teams and athletes include the Pure Black Racing team, which is aiming to make the Tour de France by 2015. Others include Ironman Cameron Brown, Commonwealth Games track gold medal winner Ali Shanks and Olympic gold medallist triathlete Bevan Docherty.
