The roadie newsletter with a 63,000 email list will be run by a new owner following the semi-retirement of Ed Pavelka

Pavelka waves goodbye to RoadBikeRider

Today’s newsletter – no 461 – was the last to be produced by Pavelka, who has been building up the online publication for ten years. Previously he was an editor on VeloNews and Bicycling, and prior to that owned a bike shop in Florida.

New owner John Marsh has created a new logo (pictured), a Twitter account, a Facebook page and will be publishing the newsletter weekly from the New Year.

The RoadBikeRider website – also to get a refresh – is a repository for paid-for e-books, the staple of Pavelka’s business, a business he ran with long-distance, every-single-day rider Fred Matheny.

Pavelka stays on as consultant to Marsh until April. Marsh said the strength of the newsletter was "its road-focused content and independence from corporate media."

The newsletter contains news, commentary, and columns from Jim Langley, a pro mechanic and cycling writer for 38 years; and humourist Scott Martin. There are also sometimes longer features from English writer Les Woodland, a former editor of Cycle Trader magazine of the UK (a 100+ year old magazine absorbed into BikeBiz 14 years ago).
