"He's a super fast, smooth rider with incredible natural ability and a penchant for alcohol," states Marshall Rutman of Canadian components-to-apparel company Race Face. "What more could you ask for in a sponsored rider?"

Peat signs with Race Face

"I’m stoked to have Peaty on the team," said Rutman.

"We’re expecting some good results from him this year and are looking forward to enjoying our fair share of victory champagne."

Peat, the 28-year old former X Games gold medalist, is now the defending Tissot-UCI World Cup champion, and won the male sponsored rider of the year award at last weekend’s British Bicycle Awards.

His Orange bikes will be equipped with Race Face ISIS cranks, bottom brackets and chainrings.

"Steve’s in good company," said Rutman.

"We’ve got a lot of high profile DH racers currently running Race Face drivetrains: Tracey Mosley, Fabien Barriell, Dustin Adams, Tara Llanes and Jared Rando are all running

our North Shore DH cranks and Signature DH bottom brackets on the World Cup circuit – the same crank/bb combo that Peat will be running. The setup is super-stiff so every kilajoule of force coming off Peaty legs gets transferred to his rear wheel."
