Urbane urbanist Mikael Colville-Andersen is to front a TV series called The Life-Sized City. Colville-Andersen popularised the "cycle chic" concept, and coined the phrase "Copenhagenize" to promote the civilised cycling conditions in his home city.

Colville-Andersen told BikeBiz: "The series is fully financed but who will broadcast is still to be confirmed."

He said it will be the "likes of Discovery, National Geographic; that league."

The series is to be produced by DBCom of Montreal, and will be filmed this year with broadcast in 2017.

It will "seek out the pockets of life-sized goodness in cities around the world," said Colville-Andersen.

"Cities are organic creatures, defined by the humans who inhabit them. For the first time in a century we are now looking at our cities differently; wondering how to make them better instead of merely accepting that they be run by a distant administration."

In the series Colville-Andersen will visit cities around the world and talk to the people who are working towards improving city life. He will interview urban activists, politicians, professionals, families and business owners.

A trailer for the series focusses on North America's most cycle-friendly city, Montreal.
