In a New Year mini-rebrand Dorel Recreational/Leisure becomes Dorel Sports. There are also a number of new hires at the company which owns the Cycling Sports Group, and some promotions. Some of the people reshuffling was due to the departure to Specialized of Peter Denk.

Peter Woods, president and chief executive officer of Dorel Sports said: “We’ve made a number of exciting new hires and promotions to support key elements of our growth strategy in 2015, in particular our focus on developing and delivering industry-leading product innovation, the lifeblood and heritage of our company.”

Joining Dorel Sports are Damon Rinard, Jeremiah Boobar, Ben Ward and Markus Spenninger. Rinard becomes the new engineering manager for road at CSG. Damon comes from Cervélo Cycles where he was a senior advanced R&D engineer and race engineer with the Cervélo Test Team. Boobar joins as director of suspension technology, CSG. Boobar comes from SRAM in Colorado Springs where he envisioned, developed and launched the Pike suspension platform and Reverb height adjust seat post. Ward becomes the new BMX product manager for GT. He has previously worked for Fit and Odyssey. Spenninger has joined as engineering manager – e-bike and urban in CSG’s R&D facility in Freiburg, Germany. Spenninger has worked for both BMW and Specialized.

In December last year it was announced that Denk Engineering GmbH of Freiberg would end its collaboration with CSG and begin with Specialized. Denk and CSG had worked together for six years, having previously worked with Scott.
