Rutland Cycling has expanded beyond Northamptonshire with the opening of a new flagship store in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
The new store covers 9,000 sq foot store over two levels at Orton Meadows and this weekend celebrates with a mini festival of cycling, including a visit from UCI Enduro World Series Champion Tracy Moseley and a Ride Out with 2004 Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt.
The family run East Midlands business began life 34 years ago as a cycle hire shop at Whitwell on the shores of Rutland Water.
The retailer said it has seen a huge growth in online sales, but is nevertheless committed to the idea that bicycle riding should be about building a community of cyclists face to face, backed by the expansion and the all-inclusive celebrations of this coming weekend with activities for children, a visit from close partner Tour of Cambridgeshire and official charity partner Sue Ryder as well as free bike fit consultations and bicycle safety checks.
Rutland Cycling chief exec Paul Archer said: “The growth of our business over the years shows there is a great demand for cycling products, from bikes through to clothing and accessories and it is great to see so many people involved in cycling for enjoyment, commuting and exercise.
