In the cabinet reshuffle Robert Goodwill has been reappointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport. The Conservative MP for Scarborough and Whitby was originally appointed in October 2013. His remit includes ‘responsibility for cycling’.
Goodwill – who rides a Brompton – is also responsible for aviation, road safety, walking, and HS2
In the Conservative manifesto there was a – vague but perhaps promising – commitment to do more for cycling, including an aspiration to reach a spend £10 a head on active travel.
