Former retail owner and co-creater of Elite Bicycles takes reigns at Blue

Steven Harad takes CEO role at Blue Competition Cycles

Blue Competition Cycles announced today the hiring of Steven Harad as its new CEO.

Harad assumes the leadership role in wake of the company’s purchase by investment firm Lake Rudd Capital Partners (Lake Rudd).

Harad hails from a long and varied career in the bike industry, from owning retail and web stores, to co-creating and launching Elite Bicycles, to his latest stint as the brand manager for Kestrel.

"Heading up Blue is an exciting opportunity and logical next step for me," says Harad. "I inherit a brand with a dedicated dealer base, strong product, and now a committed partner in Lake Rudd. It’s the perfect situation."

"Steve’s track record and reputation in the bike industry is nothing short of stellar. He’s a great fit to lead Blue to even greater heights," added managing partner, Bill Overbay. "We are confident that Steve can provide the guidance, direction, and insight this company needs to become a world-class organization."

In addition to existing customer service representatives, Mike Giraud remains on staff as the brand’s lead product manager and designer.

"One of key assets that drew me to Blue was the prospect of working with Giraud," said Harad. "He’s an authority in the industry when it comes to bicycle aerodynamics, which will be key as we begin work on Blue’s next super bike."
