For the past two months, Singletrackworld.com readers have been nominating bikes,
shops, people and magazine articles for the Singletrack Mountainbike Awards 2002.
The results will be announced at a posh supper held at Scaitcliffe Hotel, East Lancs, preceded by a private viewing of the MTB art exhibition at Towneley Hall.
The exhibition and dinner is sponsored by Sideways Cycles, Race Face, Basta UK and Xero.
Sideways Cycles is one of the three IBDs nominated as ‘best bike shop in the UK’ (although some would say Chain Reaction is not an IBD). Tim Johnson of Sideways is a regular contributor to Singletrackworld’s bulletin board.
"The awards are more than just an evening’s grub and speeches," said Alker. Here’s the
itinerary:
Friday 15th November
12pm: Meet at Towneley Hall for a guided ride on one of the excellent local Pennine trails. Two rides- Easy and er.. less easy.
5pm: Meet in the Gallery for a private viewing of the exhibition with drinks on arrival.
7pm: Transfer to the Scaitcliffe Hotel. Drinks on arrival.
8pm: Three course meal + wine.
9pm: Award presentations. (Broadcast live via webcams on http://www.singletrackworld.com)
10pm: Charity Auction of specially commissioned Jo Burt original.
10:15pm: Bar open until 12:30am
Saturday 16th November
11am: Two guided rides from the Scaitcliffe hotel on the Pennine moors to "blast away the cobwebs of the night before."
Accommodation is available at Scaitcliffe Hotel, which has 29 high-quality twin rooms on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Tickets for the awards evening, including accommodation, are £70 per person.
