Specialist insurer adds British National Road Champ to its campaigns

Armitstead becomes face of Cycleplan

Cycleplan has signed up British National Road Cycling Champion Lizzie Armitstead to be the face of its campaigns.

Armitstead, who in June suffered a thankfully not too serious crash after winning the first stage of the Women’s Tour of Britain will now be the focus of the TV, ATL, PR and social campaign.

Commenting on the partnership, Lizzie said, “Cycling is at its most popular for 24 years and I want to see this number rise and more people get into cycling. People rightly worry about having their bike stolen and safety on the roads and that’s why cycling insurance makes sense. I’m training on roads day in, day out and have had my fair share of scrapes and near misses, but having specialist insurance gives you the peace of mind that if something was to happen, you’re protected. Crucially, insurance helps you to quickly get back on the saddle and keep doing the sport we all love.”

John Woosey, managing director of cycleplan, said, “Bike sales in the UK are increasing, with around 3 million bikes sold every year. Yet alongside this popularity rise in cycling, a bike is stolen every minute in the UK. Most cyclists assume they are covered by their standard household policy but that’s not always the case and sadly cyclists often only discover this when their claim is rejected. This partnership with Lizzie will educate cyclists on the advantages of specialist cycling insurance and raise the profile of cycleplan. With Lizzie at the top of her game and the Rio Olympics on the horizon, we are delighted she’s chosen to work with cycleplan.”
