Kent retailer announces one of three framesets in the pipeline and seeks retail partners

Bowman Cycles goes own brand with Palace frameset launch

Dartford cycling retailer Bowman Cycles has today announced the launch of its own label product, with the first shipment of stock having landed last week.

The first of three framesets in the pipeline is the newly launched Palace, a £650 6000 series aluminium frame, fork, headset and clamp package.

A homage to the Crystal Palace Crits, the tarmac build is built with forged aluminium tubing and offers a surprisingly low weight at just 1,200 grams for a 56cm frame.

Neil Webb of Bowman Cycles told BikeBiz: "An oversized front triangle, and tapered steerer set up make for a bike that rails the tightest of turns, yet thin walls and our custom tubing profiles make for a bike that belies any fillingrattling memories of old aluminium frames. Topped off with a standard 27.2mm seatpost, this is an exceptionally pleasant place to spend many an hour alone in the lanes once any number has been unpinned."

The build has what is described as internal routing that’s home mechanic friendly, as well as a tough anodized finish. The Palace offers clearance for 28c tyres.

Bowman is already looking to offer out its products to retail partners, with Webb telling BikeBiz he’d like to achieve a geographical spread of five or six specialists carrying his goods.

"We can offer up to a 40 per cent margin and there’s another two builds in the pipeline, the next of which will be our Gravel adventure build due in February. This one’s a higher grade 7000 series aluminium product that’ll hold up to a 35c tyre. A dedicated cross build with front and rear thru axle and disc mounts will follow that later in 2015," concluded Webb.
