Fulcrum has revealed three fresh additions to the Racing Quattro platform, refining the existing aluminium offering and adding two new carbon wheels.
First released in 2013, the 35mm deep aero wheelset has undergone a remodelling with new wider rim designs. The 24.2mm (ETRTO 17C) rim width ensures a 25mm or bigger tyre can be fitted with a perfect profile.
The aluminium Racing Quattro LG dynamic balance rim is a 4mm wider version of previous model.
The Racing Quattro Carbon is a clincher setup that has a uni-directional full carbon construction with a 3K carbon braking surface using 3Diamant treatment on the braking surface. This process uses diamond tipped technology to eliminate imperfections, so removing the build up of resin deposit during use resulting in a consistent and controllable braking surface.
The Racing Quattro Carbon DB (Disc brake) clincher also uses UD full carbon construction, however, this continues across the entire surface as there is no need for a braking surface.
All three models use straight pull round butted aerodynamic steel spokes and aluminium nipples for better air penetration. Furthermore, these utilise Fulcrums ‘Two to One’ lacing pattern on the rear wheel which is laced to an aluminium oversized hub body and flange. This allows for higher spoke tensions. The hubs are finished off using an adjustable bearing system and a plasma treated freehub.
Weights and TBC pricing for the range are as follows:The disc version differs slightly to the other two, with 21 spokes front and rear; both featuring Two-to-One lacing due to the increased torsional demands of disc brakes. The hub design allows maximum interchangeability between regular quick release and through axles to ensure the wheels meet all currently available standards and ensure they will work on future standards too. The hub is also compatible for both 6 bolt and AFS.
