'Invisible' Sherlock bike tracker turns to crowd funding for launch

Final funding push to get final devices into prodution
Publish date:

The Turin, Italy team behind the Sherlock bike tracker is turning to crowd funding for the final phase of the product's development.

Pitched as an 'invisible' GPS-based anti-theft device - the flexible unit fits inside a bike frame, handlebar or seat post - €80,000 is being sought on Indiegogo to finalise the product design, print new prototypes, conduct on-the-road tests and set up the supply chain for production of the first batch. The crowdfunding appeal starts a week on Friday (May 20th 2016).

Sherlock has been gathering PR through UK shows including the London Bike Show and the more recent Spin festival. The team was selected for the Google Launchpadx hyper accelerator week at the London Google Campus in April. Sherlock has also had support from SETsquared incubator in UK and i3P incubator in Italy and supported by Fondazione CRT. In 2015 the company received a €130,000 grant by the European frontierCities acceleration programme for the early-stage research and development of the product.
