Organisers of the inaugural Triathlon-Cycling-Running exhibition at the recently revamped £23m expo facilities at Sandown Park Racecourse were pleased with the attendance figure. 4000 people were attracted to the Saturday-Sunday event.

David Townsend, MD of M2 Events, organising company behind the show, was happy with the turn-out:

"It is extremely gratifying to see what you think is a good idea vindicated by a satisfied trade and public. We geared Saturday’s show content to the cyclist and Sunday’s to the runner, with triathlon overarching both days; it was great to see both days greeted with equal enthusiasm."

Ian Lole, national participation manager of the British Triathlon Association, was glad M2 staged the show:

"The exhibition was very successful for us. It provided a great opportunity to convert would-be triathletes into having a go and signing up to the Association. There was a really encouraging cross-section of novices and pros."

Specialist triathlon retailer Greg Bryce of triandrun said:

"It’s been good from all perspectives, not just sales but also meeting so many great people. [It was] really good for the sport."

Bob Barber of British Cycling was similarly upbeat:

"The attendance exceeded expectations. We were very busy and discovered some great new talent to follow. This area has been starved of this kind of opportunity."
