More stars become ambassadors for the NEC-set show

Rebecca Romero and Ben Swift make tracks to Cycle Show 2011

Geraint Thomas will be joined in his Cycle Show ambassadorial duties by Olympic Champion Rebecca Romero and Tour de France cyclist Ben Swift.

All three will be at the show, which runs from September 29th to October 2nd. Thomas will open the trade day on the 29th, while Romero will open the first public day on 30th. Swift will get the show started on October 2nd.

Romero is the only Brit to have won Olympic medals in two different sports (rowing and track cycling). She said: “The Cycle Show will be right after the World Championships so I expect there to be a great buzz about the place.

“I came to cycling from rowing, and no matter what your background, current or future cycling aspirations are, there will be something for everyone at the show.”

Swift completed his first Tour de France with Team Sky this summer. The 23 year old is targeting his second Olympic games next year. He commented: “The Cycle Show will be a really great experience for everyone attending and the fact that it has moved to a bigger location just goes to show just how popular cycling is in Britain. The outdoor tracks will be a great addition to the show and hopefully everyone will go home inspired to get on their bikes.”

The bike industry can register for the trade day of Cycle Show (on Thursday September 29th) at www.cycleshow.co.uk/bikebiz.

The evening before Cycle Show begins – on Wednesday September 28th – will see the 2011 BikeBiz Awards take place at the nearby Hilton Metropole, NEC, Birmingham. You can get your ticket from Carly.Bailey@intentmedia.co.uk
