Registration opens for Bike Week 2012

The UK’s largest cycling event Bike Week – is back for 2012, with registration now open.

The nationwide event will this year take place between June 16th to 24th, promoting cycling and how it can be easily be part of everyday life, encouraging ‘everyday cycling for everyone’.

Events can now be registered with Bike Week. Organisers can take advantage of free support and advice to help them make their events a success, and be part of a nationwide event at the same time. You can register here.

The organisers said: "Demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, the week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK, whether this be for fun, as a means of getting around to the local shops, school, the library or just to visit friends.

"As the biggest nationwide cycling event in the UK, Bike Week encourage over half a million people to join in events, rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around.

"Register your event today, and help us make this year’s event bigger and better than ever before!"

Once again ‘Britain’s Biggest Bike Fix’ will return to Bike Week, aimed at liberating thousands of unused bikes from sheds across the country, encouraging people to dig out their bikes and get punctures fixed, brakes adjusted and gears tuned.Last year saw over 26,000 bikes get fixed.
