Brand, just six years old, is now in 12 countries across four continents

Reid Bikes now in 75 UK bike shops & plans to double sales

Having teamed up with 2×2 just over two months ago, Reid Bikes are now available at over 75 retailers across the UK, the brand has told BikeBiz.

The firm revealed it has strong ambitions for its burgeoning efforts in the UK, planning to double sales in 12 months.

Reid Bikes launched six years ago in Australia, where they sell direct to the public through their own stores and website at wholesale prices. In June 2014, the then general manager Rob Akam moved to the UK to open an International Sales Office and was tasked with starting distribution of the brand in international markets.

Since then, Reid has picked up distributors covering 12 countries across four continents.

Akam, now international sales manager, said: “The distributors we work with can see that we are always striving to improve our products, explore new niches, be at the forefront of new fashions, and of course, offer all this at very competitive pricing. We are in talks with several new distributors at present too, in the EU, Asia and Canada. These discussions can go on for months before a deal is struck, and during that time, they can even see the brand growing in that time, and they are impressed.

“Within the UK, we want to double our sales in the next 12 months. As it is still a new market for us, we are growing the dealer network rapidly, as well as introducing more and more of the range, so feel this is achievable. To support our UK operations, and interests overseas, we are actively recruiting for International marketing positions as well as international account managers, to ensure that as we grow, our service gets better and better. Client care and communication is incredibly important to us, and we work very closely with our distributors.”
