60% of Windwave's IBD accounts have registered for B2B

Solent's windwave.co.uk was launched at the end of November. 200 orders have been received online so far but Solent MD Peter Nisbet sees the tech-dense side of the site as the killer app.

The site was produced for trade customers - there's no online selling, visitors are directed to input postcodes for dealer locating - but all of the tech info, on brands such such as Marzocchi, Formula, Mountain Cycle, Nokian, No Fear and FSA, is also available on the non-password part of the site.

Peter Nisbet, MD of the Gosport-based Solent UK, said: “60 percent of our customers are now registered, and many have taken advantage of 10 percent discount on their first web order, and free delivery on all orders placed online.”

Much of Windwave site is dedicated to providing technical information such as exploded diagrams to enable the identification of parts; how to perform servicing, including what tools to use, and the approximate time the service should take.

"The feedback received from our customers regarding this section has been very positive," said Nisbet.

Because of this success, even denser reams of tech info will be placed on the site by the end of the first quarter of the year.
