Brown joins the ACT from an advertising and marketing communications agency.
Being a cyclist wasn't part of the job description but it probably helps to muster the enthusiasm each day so the ACT are keen to stress Brown is a "keen cyclist."
Whilst year-on-year membership has grown by 15 percent - it now stands at just under 800 members - ACT board members believe there's scrope for doubling membership, and that will be one of Brown's key roles.
“The Association is very active, it's a commercial investment for any IBD and new initiatives, particularly CyTech Cycling Excellence, can change the industry for the better,” and David Wilsher, the ACT president.
Anne Killick, the ACT's national secretary, said:
“ACT’s offering to members blew away other independent retailer groups away at the recent Independent Retailer Consortium meeting. This generated a great deal of interest in our offering from other retail trade associations.”
“As a fresh pair of eyes it is so evident how much ACT offers its members, and that is before the new CyTech initiative kicks off. The fact that some IBDs don’t participate – especially at membership of costs of just £200 p.a. – is stunning. It is evident that ACT’s offering to IBDs is not obvious to the market and there lies my brief.”
Brown will be attending the forthcoming Cycle & Leisure Show events at Sandown and Harrogate.
