Sustrans' has published a review of the progress made by the Bike It project between 2008 and 2009, readable here.
Now in its fifth year, Sustrans' Bike It project has visited over 500 schools, spanning 90,000 plus pupils.
42 Bike It officers travel the country bringing cycling to schoolkids, teaching everything from safe cycling to basic maintenance. IBDs can benefit too. The officers are tasked with visiting local stores, aiming squarely to build on going partnerships with dealers and schools to ensure the sustainability of the project once the officer has moved on.
Paul Osborne, Sustrans' school travel director told BikeBiz: "we're optimistic to have expanded our team in the coming months. I'd like to think we'll have 50 staff nationwide encouraging schoolkids to cycle through the numerous activities, incentives and projects we introduce."
