The national roll-out of the Bikehut concept is clear evidence if any were needed that Halfords thinks theres a lucrative higher-end market to be tapped into.

Halfords wants to appeal to enthusiasts, a relatively new target audience for a chain that sells 700 000 bikes a year.

Bikehut is a threat to independents, but its also an indication that, if you aim for quality customers, thats where the market-leading bike retailer wants to be too.
