Future has appointed Jeff Jones as new Editor for the cycling website BikeRadar.com.

Jeff was part of the original launch team in 2007, and has been instrumental in the huge success of BikeRadar.com, and keeping the hot seat warm running the site as acting editor since early July.

He takes the helm following the most successful month ever on BikeRadar.com. July 2008 saw 914,000 unique visitors visiting the site following the Tour de France, including another hugely successful run for the Tour de France podcast. It was the second most downloaded sports podcast through iTunes throughout the Tour, with the total number of downloads reaching 123,814 – increasing more than 45 per cent on last year's performance.

Jeff brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, winning the road race at the Journalists' World Championships in 2006, and working as chief online editor at Cyclingnews.com for seven years before coming to Future to help launch BikeRadar.com in 2007. He also has a doctorate in physical and theoretical chemistry.

He will be primarily responsible for overseeing BikeRadar.com, managing the team and working on the site’s development.

On his promotion to Editor Jeff Jones said:

“I'm very much looking forward to the challenge of taking over as Editor of BikeRadar, having been involved with the site since its inception. It was an ambitious project but thanks to our fantastic team we’ve exceeded all expectations in our first year. There's more to come too, as we've got plenty of ideas to improve the site for our rapidly growing band of readers.”

Richard Schofield, Group Publisher for Future’s sports portfolio said:

“I am delighted to be able to announce Jeff’s appointment. His knowledge and passion for online, for cycling and for BikeRadar.com are a massive asset and I am looking forward to working with him and the BikeRadar.com team to continue the development of what is already the world’s most exciting cycling website.”
