Taipei Cycle Show: Firm reveals suite of products for iPhone-toting cyclists

Biologic turns iPhone into BikeBrain at Taipei

Biologic has announced a range of iPhone-related products for cyclists at the opening day of Taipei Cycle this morning.

The line-up includes a iPhone app that tracks ride data, a rugged iPhone case with integrated battery and a dynamo kit that charges an iPhone while riding. Cycling gloves with touch-sensitive finger tips have also been revealed by the firm.

“Many of us here at BioLogic have logged lots of miles with iPhones stuffed in our pockets or rubber-banded to our handlebars and it seemed pretty obvious that with the right hardware and software, the iPhone would make an amazing cycling computer,” explained Joshua Hon, BioLogic MD.

“With our new products, every iPhone owner can have the ultimate cycling computer – with GPS mapping, speed, and distance as well as calorie tracking. Best of all, we even offer two ways to charge your iPhone while you ride.”

The iPhone app – BikeBrain Lite – offers GPS mapping, speed, distance, elapsed time and ten other functions, is highly customisable and is free for download from the Apple App Store by the end of the month.

The ReeCharge Case for iPhone is a rugged, weathproof offering that completely encloses the iPhone while still allowing full access to the touch screen. It integrates a 1400 mAh lithium polymer battery to keep the iPhone charged on longer outings and comes with a mini USB charge out port to charge other devices. SRP is pitched at US$99.99.

The ReeCharge Case Bracket mounts the case onto most bikes or other vehicles with a stem or railing up to 40mm in diameter. Featuring heavy-duty thumbscrews, it will retail at US$19.99.

The ReeCharge Dynamo Kit works via magnets embedded in the hub generating electricity while riding. At US$19.99 the Kit tuns the charge cable directly into the Case Bracket so there’s no fiddling with cables when taking the phone on or off the bike.

The Cipher Cycling Gloves (US$34.99) combine soft shell wind resistant and warm fabric with 3M conductive fabric on the forefinger and thumb for use of the iPhone touch screen.
