Brompton and Cyclehoop join Anglian Water, Arriva Trains, Crown Paints and McLaren Automotive as National Champions.

Brompton and Cyclehoop to represent UK in European Business Awards

Folding bike maker Brompton Bicycle and cycle stand manufacturer Cyclehoop will represent the UK as National Champions in the European Business Awards 2013/14 Awards programme. Fifty businesses won through National Champions, including Anglian Water, Arriva Trains, Crown Paints and McLaren Automotive.

They will now compete for Ruban d’Honneur status in the next round of the competition. Final category Award winners will be unveiled in April 2014.

The European Business Awards identifies some of Europe’s brightest businesses based on their ability to demonstrate the three core principles at the heart of the Awards programme: innovation, business excellence and sustainability. Last year’s competition saw entries from organisations with a combined turnover greater than €1 trillion across the 28 EU countries, plus emerging nations. Together these businesses employ over 2.7 million people across the continent.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards, said, “Over the past seven years we’ve received an incredibly high standard of entries from organisations that are passionate about their business. However, very few get the chance to fly the flag for their country and compete across Europe to be recognised as one of Europe’s finest. It really is an exceptional accolade to be picked as a National Champion and, together with our sponsors and supporters; we’re looking forward to seeing the UK in the next round.”

To advance in the competition this year, all National Champions have to submit a video entry for viewing and assessment by a judging panel. In addition, the public will also be able to vote online for their favourite National Champion from each country. These companies will become ‘National Public Champions’ and one will go on to become the ‘European Public Champion’. Voting begins in November 2013.
