Campagnolo has released details of a number of new components aimed at the time trial and triathlon sectors.
The 2012 range will include bar end controls, TT cranksets, TT brake levers and ‘U brakes’ so cyclists can equip their TT bikes with complete 11 or ten-speed Campagnolo drivetrains.
The brand new bar-end shifters are available in 11 and ten speed, designed for maximum performance in terms of weight and aerodynamic efficiency – the ‘Back to Zero position’ mechanism keeps the lever in the optimal position for airflow, with the start position adjustable to the rider’s preference. Ergonomically designed, the minimal effort is required to activate the levers.
The TT crankset has a larger TT chainring diameter, but the crankset is as rigid as a crankset with standard chainrings, the firm says, providing optimal transfer of power from the pedals to the wheel, via the chainring and the chain. The XPSS (Extreme Performance Shifting System) allows for accurate and fast shifting even under load.
The new TT/Tri brake levers are also ergonomically designed, created to follow hand movements and maintain an aerodynamic position even during braking. Strength required to activate the levers has been designed to be minimal due to the special curvature design. The levers are fitted with a quick release system allowing for easy removal of the wheels.
The "U Brakes" are constructed of black anodised, forged aluminium. The brake pad holders can be adjusted for optial alignment and the brakes are available in a lateral pull version for the front and central, or lateral pull for the rear.
