Car company puts staff on bikes

Zenith Provecta is one of the UK’s biggest company car fleet management firms and has its HQ in a hilly suburb of Bradford. The company has contracted with the Leeds branch of Edinburgh Bicycle to provide bicycles for staff via the Government’s Cycle to Work scheme.

A statement from Zenith Provecta said: "With a Head Office in one of the hilliest parts of the UK and a business operating in the motor industry, it might seem a little unusual for a scheme that encourages employees to cycle to work instead of the usual car-based commute. However, [the business] has done just that and introduced a Bike to Work scheme for all employees."

Edinburgh Bicycle’s Cycle to Work salary sacrifice scheme is branded ‘Ride to Work.’ The bike shop’s motto is "The revolution will not be motorised."

Zenith Provecta said the decision to start a Cycle to Work scheme was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

Ian Hughes, commercial director of Zenith Provecta, said: "Our employees are very aware of the advantages of cycling to work, in terms of its impact on the environment and their fitness – and it can often be quicker than using a car on congested roads."
