Hazel Robinson, Sir Paul Smith and, er, Boris Johnson, bring style to riding

Celebrities and style icons line up for City Cycle Style show

Fresh from his appearance opening London’s Fashion Week, London Mayor Boris Johnson is bringing his own inimitable style to a new fashion event in the capital – this time focusing on the cycle world.

City Cycle Style is a new exhibition by leading fashion photographer Horst A Friedrichs and the City of London, featuring a collection of 40 of the capital’s most stylish cyclists on their bikes of choice, from vintage bikes, to fixed gear and Pashley rides.

Attendees can expect to see bike enthusiasts like the aforementioned Boris Johnson, Sir Paul Smith, Queen of London’s drag scene Jonny Woo, Madonna stylist and half of fashion label House of Jazz Hazel Robinson, Jonathan Kelsey – shoe designer for Mulberry and Hunter – and the Rt Hon Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Michael Bear.

“From fashionistas to financiers, an increasing number of Londoners are taking to the saddle,” explained Friedrichs. “The bicycle is now being seen as a reflection of your own personality and fashion choices rather than a simple way to get around. I hope the exhibition will show London exactly how you can ride in style and encourage more people to start cycling.”

City Cycle Style will be a 24 hour outdoor gallery on the east side or back entrance of The Royal Exchange from September 28th to October 29th 2011. The Royal Exchange, EC3V 3LR is located between Cornhill and Threadneedle Street, close to Bank Tube Station.
