Ex-IBD and World Masters cyclo-cross champ Mick Ives has helped the CTC to make Llanwrtyd Wells the CTCs first Cycle Centre. Five more towns will get the same label within the next six months. Cycle Centres will have classic road and dirt cycle routes radiating out from them

Centres of attention

Llanwrtyd Wells is the home of Gordon Green organised events such as the Man v Horse v Bike and the World Bog Snorkelling Championships. It was chosen to be the CTCs first Cycle Centre town because of this heritage and because Powys County Council pinpointed routes in the area as some of the best off-roading in Wales.

One road and five offroad routes are to be highlighted in the first CTC Cycle Centre route guide, to be officially launched on Thursday May 18th, and sponsored by Michelin Tyres.

After a photocall, journalists and other interested parties can avail themselves of a three-hour guided ride led by Mick Ives, the CTCs Offroad development officer.
