UK cycling channel now available on Virgin Media TV.

Channel 552 becomes cycling central via Virgin Media TV

Bike, the multi-discipline TV channel, is to become viewable on channel 552 via Virgin Media. Bike offers a mix of live coverage, documentaries and original UK programming, including features on travel, sport, training, endurance, women’s, MTB and legends of the sport.

The channel will air races including the Giro d’Italia, the UCI Mountain Bike Cross Country and DH World Cup as well as cyclocross and BMX competitions.

Virgin Media’s chief digital entertainment officer, David Bouchier said: “You can’t question the growth in cycling in recent years, and on our TV service it is all about people’s interests and passions, be it more mainstream media or specialist channels.”

Richard Schofield, Bike’s UK marketing director, said: “We’re very proud to now be broadcast to even more UK homes with Virgin Media. We know that 2016 is going to be an exciting year for Bike and for cycling as a whole with the prospect of more sporting success at the Rio Olympics.”

Programme highlights coming up include the Greatest Climbs with 2002 and 2005 Giro d’Italia winner Paolo Savoldelli, and A Racer’s Dream, an access-all-areas documentary about the MTB World Championships. There’s also to be a documentary on three disabled female cyclists.

Other races and events covered include the Tour of Oman, the MTB Cape Epic race from South Africa, Milan–San Remo, the· Tour of Yorkshire, the Tour of California, the Roc D’azur MTB festival and the UCI BMX Supercross series.
