Fashion icon combines with fashionable bike brand for strictly limited range

Charge and Conran team up for urban bike collaboration

UK bike brand Charge has joined forces with the Conran Shop for a limited bike range that will be available from November.

The Conran Shop, self-styled purveyor of classic British design since the swinging Sixties, was founded by Terence Conran and has ten shops in six countries.

The Charge x Conran bikes range will include two models; the Plug and new Hob, with its step-through frame, swept back bars and mudguards. Available in strictly limited numbers, the fuss-free rides feature three speed internal hub gears and Sturmey Archer gear shifters.

The Plug is pitched as a simple, classic, uncluttered and tough ride for urban riding. The fast riding bike has a less stretched-out, more upright riding position for comfort and improved visibility in traffic.

The urban workhorse has steel tubes that soak up the potholes, according to Charge. The full specs are:

• Cromo D/T & C/S frame, rack mounts
• Charge whisk steel fork
• Charge SS hubs, alex DM18 rims
• Charge single speed 42t crankset
• Sturmey Archer SRF 3 speed rear hub
• Sturmey Archer thumbie shifter
• Promax levers
• Charge Coaster 700x32c tyres
• Available In XXS, XS, S, M
• RRP £569.99

The other bike from the collaboration – The Hob – is Charge and Conran’s take on a women’s version of the Plug in a Mixte style frame. Fitted with the same spec to the Plug and with colour matched fenders, it also features Charge’s award winning ladies Ladle saddle and custom moustache bars.
