Cycling Olympian Chris Boardman is to act as patron for Kent’s Cyclopark project.
The move is a boost for the Gravesend facility, currently under construction and set to open in time for 2012. Set in 43 hectares of parkland, Cyclopark will incorporate a 340m BMX racetrack, a skate park and a 2.9km circuit track for cycling and running. Cyclopark will also include a ‘Jamie Staff Academy‘.
"I am pleased and honoured to support this unique project that will bring many different cycling disciplines together in one venue and enable the growth and development of all riders," enthused Boardman.
"If my reputation as a cyclist and support of Cyclopark can enable more people to participate in the sport and create champions of the future; I am very happy to be involved."
Boardman took Britain’s opening Gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Britain’s first cycling Gold in 72 medals. As patron of Cyclopark, Boardman will promote the park and support all future developments.
