Davison, 57, was a contemporary of other North East bike trade figures and riders, Joe Waugh, Dave Yates and Paul Donohue.
He rode for the Ti-Raleigh team in the 1970s.
The former pro collapsed after a café stop, got back on his bike and rode for a short distance before collapsing again. An air ambulance airlifted him to Carlisle general hospital but he was found to be dead on arrival.
The funeral will be held at 12.30 on Monday at the West Road crematorium in Newcastle upon Tyne.
