And not just hucking. Road stuff too. A good mix really. The challenge is now whether the group of eight suppliers will let many other niche suppliers join for next year. Some key suppliers have requested 'membership' but would this dilute the show's usefulness or enhance its appeal?

Organiser Patrick Adams insisted on AA signs pointing to the Moat House venue. At £460 for a set this isn't cheap but it set the tone for the show: professional and pleasingly up-market.

There's a place for £59 full-suspension MTBs and Barbie water-bottles, but this wasn't it.

Like the Prestige Products Roadshow of ten years ago, the Core Bike show appealed to IBDs dealing in the upper reaches of the bicycle market and, of the exhibitors asked, all said the show attracted more-than-expected numbers of "the right IBDs."
