Cyclefit seeks to partner with bike retailers to offer bike fitting. One of the existing partners is the UK's oldest bike shop.

Cyclefit seeks IBDs for new bike fit network

Cyclefit, founded ten years ago, is seeking to roll out its services to more UK bicycle retailers.

Cyclefit director Phil Cavell said: "Many stores are looking for that bolt-on solution to increase their sales by value not volume and improve margins.

Fellow director Julian Wall said:

“For the consumer, choosing the best bike fitting service can be something of a minefield with several different ‘systems’ on the market and an even wider range of fitting abilities. We believe Cyclefit represents the gold standard of bike fitting in the UK and potential customers can be confident they will receive excellent results and ongoing support from our thoroughly trained Cyclefit Technicians."

Wall and Cavell will train the new Cyclefit Technicians over a three week period and provide continued in-store support and instruction for the technician in their working environment. Cyclefit will also collaborates with their new partner stores on studio design and installation, custom frame design and custom sales training.

“For Cyclefit the key to a good bike fitting is the skill of the fitter and their relationship with the client. Bike fitting is a moving target and we introduce new techniques, technology and theories to our partners as they develop," said Cavell.

Two bike shops are already part of the network: Pearson’s Performance of Sheen and Cycle-ops of Tonbridge, Kent.

"Joining the Cyclefit Network will empower bricks and mortar retailers with the tools to provide customers a service and product that is unavailable on the internet and from chain stores," said Cavell.

Guy Pearson, co-owner of the UK’s oldest bike shop, said bicycle retailers have to innovate to prosper:

“Cyclefit stood out from the bike fitting crowd for their quality bike fitting and high brand awareness. We already have fitting appointments nearly every day and demand is growing. We are very happy with the relationship."

Cyclefit’s Partner Stores will have two dedicated fit studios and two Cyclefit Technicians. To complement their training the technicians use the Fit Bike, Computrainer’s Spin Scan and Dartfish Motion Analysis to assess and adjust a rider’s position on the bike. The technicians will use eSoles footbeds and Bikefit Wedges and Shims to customise cycling shoes for improved pedalling dynamics.

Cyclefit’s chosen custom brand for the ‘Network’ is the Canadian frame builder Guru Cycles who build custom and stock frames from steel, titanium and carbon in their Montreal based factory.
