Cyclescheme has won the open tender released by Manchester City Council, something that will generate widespread benefits for many cycle retailers.

Current government legislation indicates that once a provider has won an Open Tender, subsequent tender procurement procedures become unnecessary.

Here’s an extract from Manchester City Council’s tender: ‘Tenderers should note that although quantities and descriptions in the tender are those used and required by Manchester City Council this contract is open to, and may be used by other local authorities throughout the country’.

Richard Grigsby, director of Cyclescheme, said “We are overjoyed in winning this open tender and look forward to saving prospective clients time and money in preparing and reviewing future schemes. We are particularly keen to spread this news to police and fire and rescue services often included within council administrations”.

Manchester City Council is one of the largest ten Metropolitan Councils in England and has 25,000 employees. Cyclescheme’s partner stores will provide a face-to-face service to an estimated five per cent of its workforce.
