Cycling Scotland gears up for Bike Week

Cycling Scotland is putting its full weight behind the forthcoming cyclist-number-boosting Bike Week, taking place from Saturday June 19th to 27th.

The towns, villages and cities of Scotland will see free cycling events with the theme of ‘everyday cycling, for everyone’ as part of Team Green Britain Bike Week – the UK’s biggest mass participation cycle event.

According to Cycling Scotland, there will be events for the full range of cyclists, from total novices to passionate riders.

Chief executive of Cycling Scotland Ian Aitken said: “Many people get in their cars and pop to the shops or drive to work without giving it a second thought, yet hopping on a bike could get you there faster, cheaper and give you a healthy boost along the way.

"We want everyone to get on their bikes for Team Green Britain Bike Week and find out how easily cycling can become a part of their everyday lives.

“There’s something for everyone during Bike Week, with events ranging from cycle training and Dr Bike sessions for novices, to commuter challenges and group rides around local cycling routes.”

Cycling celebrities have got behind Bike Week by designing bespoke cycles.
