The BikeBiz roadtrip continues: yesterday in a Welsh-cum-Taiwanese bike factory, today in a roomful of 30 IBDs demanding speedy tweaks to their trade-specific EPoS software

Democracy in action

The Abacus User Group Meetings are always lively affairs. This one in the Chester Posthouse was no exception.

Gather together 30 independent bicycle dealers and you can guarantee youll get some independent opinions!

A full report vetted by Ian Tomlinson of Abacus who probably wont censor much because his presentational style at UGMs is brutally frank will appear in the June BikeBiz but suffice to say fireworks fly at these meetings. But all power to Abacus, these meetings are convened with the full knowledge that criticisms will be raised.

Pity poor Ian Bacardi Breezer Tomlinson: the grilling doesnt stop in the evening. He may be picking up the beer tab after the days business but theres no let up in the ribbing.

IBDs present at todays UGM included:

Mosquito Bikes, Terry Wright Cycles (Terry is pictured at the top of the page), The Bicycle Chain, Leisure Wheels, Horswill Cycles, Duff Discount Cycle Stores of Dublin, Dales Cycles, Cyclelife Dundee and Alpine Bikes.
